Telemedicine Regulations Extended Through December 2025

Nov 25, 2024

Great news for Telehealth providers and patients! The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have announced an extension of Telemedicine flexibilities through December 2025.

These rules, initially expanded during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, allow healthcare providers to prescribe controlled substances via Telehealth without requiring an in-person visit. The extension ensures continuity of care for millions relying on virtual health services for mental health, addiction treatment, and other chronic conditions.

What This Means for You:

  • For Providers: Continued ability to treat patients remotely, fostering greater flexibility and access.
  • For Patients: Seamless access to care, particularly in rural or underserved areas.

The extension highlights the government’s recognition of telemedicine’s vital role in healthcare delivery. However, permanent policies are still under consideration, with feedback from stakeholders being reviewed.

Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to monitor developments in Telehealth regulation.

Best,
Daniel Mountain
